Paul Jenkins

Paul Jenkins. Small Alert Hare, Bronze Resin

Paul was born in the West Midlands, England in 1949.

He first started his career in art the early 70's sculpting in wood and then found himself drawn to sculpting in clay and wax.

Paul then went on to study ceramics at Dudley College of Art.

Paul has sculpted several pieces for the National Trust which were then presented to people for their outstanding contributions within the trust.

His inspirations come from his love of nature especially animals. Many of his pieces are inspired from direct observations of wild animals in their natural habitat.

Keza Rudge

As a member of the Rudge family of sculptors Keza is an acknowledged leader in the portrayal of dogs and horses. Each piece is finely observed and beautifully modelled down to the muscle detail and facial expression. Dog range includes Dalmatian, German Shepherd, Spaniel, English Bull Terrier, Weimaraner, Vizsla, Great Dane and Labrador.

Jaana Fowler

Jaana came to London from Helsinki in 1973, and studied sculpture at St Martin's School of Art, Graduating in 1979. In 1981 she began working for the renowned artist Anthony Caro as a freelance model maker, an association which has continued ever since. Over the years she has exhibited her work in several London galleries, and since 1998 has been included in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art.

Jaana prefers to use salvaged wood and found objects for her sculptures, such as fence posts, pieces of balustrade, old rolling pins and wooden spoons. She then allows the pre-existing shapes and textures of these pieces to suggest the basis for the sculpture. She splits and turns the wood herself, and then paints the bare wood with primer and acrylics in muted colours, building up several layers until she achieves the desired effect.

Each sculpture is varnished for durability, but Jaana avoids a highly-finished effect, prefering to emphasise the contrast between the newly-created sculpture and the original functions of its constituent parts.
